Former Eastern League prospect Frank Malzone was born on this date in 1930. He played for the Scranton Miners (1950) and Red Sox (1951).

Malzone was a 6 time All Star and 3 time Gold Glove recipient during his 12 year major league career. He played for the Boston Red Sox (1955-65), and California Angels (1966).

After his playing days, he worked as an advance scout and spring training instructor for the Red Sox.

He died on December 29, 2015 at the age of 85.
