Ridzik played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1950, '52-'55, '66), Cincinnati Reds (1955), New York Giants (1956-57), Cleveland Indians (1958), and Washington Senators (1963-65).

He died on January 8, 2008, at the age of 78.

Former Eastern League prospect Walt Kellner was born on this date in 1929. He played for the 1953 Williamsport A's and 1956 Reading Indians.

He pitched in a total of 3 games for the Philadelphia Athletics during the 1952 and 1953 seasons.

His father, John "Pop" Kellner, brother Alex, and son Frank, all played professional baseball. 

Kellner died on June 19, 2006, at the age of 77.

Today's Eastern League Birthday: Lew Krausse, Jr., Binghamton Triplets (1962)

Former Eastern League prospect Lew Krausse, Jr. was born on this date in 1943. He pitched for the 1962 Binghamton Triplets (6-4, 3.81 ERA). 

Krausse played for the Kansas City & Oakland Athletics (1961, 1964-69), Milwaukee Brewers (1970-71), Boston Red Sox (1972), St. Louis Cardinals (1973), and Atlanta Braves (1974). He was the starting pitcher for the first home game played by the Oakland Athletics in 1968, and was the the starting pitcher for the first game played by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1970.

Krausse died of cancer on February 61, 2021, at the age of 77.

Happy 84th Birthday to former Eastern League prospect Bill Haywood. He pitched for the York White Roses in 1964 and '65.

Haywood pitched in 14 games for the Washington Senators in 1968 (0-0, 4.70 ERA). 

After his playing days, Haywood coached at Western Carolina University and managed several minor league teams.
