Dropo played in the majors during 13 seasons with the Boston Red Sox (1949-52), Detroit Tigers (1952-54), Chicago White Sox (1955-58), Cincinnati Red (1958-59), Baltimore Orioles (1959-60). He was named American League Rookie of the Year in 1950.
He died on December 17, 2010, at the age of 87.
