Today's Birthday: Eddie Robinson (Elmira Pioneers, 1941)

Happy 100th birthday to former Eastern League prospect Eddie Robinson, who was born on this date in 1920. He played in 139 games for the 1941 Elmira Pioneers.

After appearing in 8 games for the Cleveland Indians in 1942, he spent the next three seasons in the military during World War II. 

Robinson played in the major leagues during 13 seasons with the Cleveland Indians (1942, '46-'48, '57), Washington Senators (1949-50), Chicago White Sox (1950-52), Philadelphia Athletics (1953), New York Yankees (1954-56), Kansas City Athletics (1956), Detroit Tigers (1957) and Baltimore Orioles (1957).

He worked for several major league teams after his playing days and was general manager of the Atlanta Braves (1972-75) and Texas Rangers (1977-82).
