Former Eastern League prospect Frank Torre was born on this date in 1931. He played in 11 games for the 1951 Hartford Chiefs.

He is the brother of former major league player, manager and Hall of Famer Joe Torre.

Torre played in the majors for 7 years with the Milwaukee Braves (1956-60), and Philadelphia Phillies (1962-63).

After he retired from baseball, Torre became an executive with the Rawling Sporting Goods Company.

He died of on September 13, 2014, at the age of 82.
