Former Eastern League prospect George Crowe was born on this date in 1921. He played for the Hartford Chiefs in 1950.

Crowe played in the majors during 9 seasons for the Boston Braves (1952), Milwaukee Braves (1953, '55), Cincinnati Reds (1956-58), and St. Louis Cardinals (1959-61).

He was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1976, and the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004.

Crowe died on January 19, 2011, at the age of 89.
