Happy 100th birthday to former Eastern League prospect Eddie Robinson, who was born on this date in 1920. He played in 139 games for the 1941 Elmira Pioneers.

After appearing in 8 games for the Cleveland Indians in 1942, he spent the next three seasons in the military during World War II. 

Robinson played in the major leagues during 13 seasons with the Cleveland Indians (1942, '46-'48, '57), Washington Senators (1949-50), Chicago White Sox (1950-52), Philadelphia Athletics (1953), New York Yankees (1954-56), Kansas City Athletics (1956), Detroit Tigers (1957) and Baltimore Orioles (1957).

He worked for several major league teams after his playing days and was general manager of the Atlanta Braves (1972-75) and Texas Rangers (1977-82).

Former Eastern League prospect Sam Jones was born on this date in 1925. He pitched in 30 games for the 1950 Wilkes-Barre Indians (17-8, 2.71 ERA).

Jones played in the major leagues during 12 seasons for the Cleveland Indians (1951-52), Chicago Cubs (1955-56), St. Louis Cardinals (1957-58, '63), San Francisco Giants (1959-61), Detroit Tigers (1962) and Baltimore Orioles (1963).

He died of cancer on November 5, 1971, at the age of 45.

He played in the majors during 5 seasons with the New York Yankees (1963-65) and Cleveland Indians (1965-67).

After his playing career, he managed several minor league teams.

Former Eastern League prospect Bob Roselli was born on this date in 1931. He played for the 1952 Hartford Chiefs.

Roselli played in the majors during 5 seasons for the Milwaukee Braves (1955-56, '58) and Chicago White Sox (1961-62).

He died on November 6, 2009, at the age of 77.

Happy 79th birthday to former Eastern League prospect Darold Knowles. He pitched for the Elmira Pioneers during the 1962 and '63 seasons.

Knowles spent 16 seasons in the major leagues with the Baltimore Orioles (1965), Philadelphia Phillies (1966), Washington Senators (1967-71), Oakland Athletics (1971-74), Chicago White Sox (1975-76), Texas Rangers (1977), Montreal Expos (1978), and St. Louis Cardinals (1979-80).

He appeared in the 1969 All Star game and 1973 World Series. After he retired as a player, he coached in the minor leagues for several seasons and was on the coaching staffs of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1983 and Philadelphia Phillies in 1989 and '90.

Pagliaroni played in the majors during 11 seasons for the Boston Red Sox (1955, 1960-62), Pittsburgh Pirates (1963-67), Oakland Athletics (1968-69) and Seattle Pilots (1969).

He died on April 3, 2010, at the age of 72.
