Former Eastern League prospect Phil Paine was born on this date in 1930. He played for two seasons in the Eastern League for the Hartford Chiefs (1950-51).
Paine pitched in the majors during six seasons with the Boston/Milwaukee Braves (1951, '54-'57) and the St. Louis Cardinals (1958). He appeared in 95 games and had a career record of 10-1 with a 3.36 ERA.
