Former Eastern League prospect Herb Plews was born on this date in 1928. He played for the Binghamton Triplets in 1953.
Plews went on to play in the majors during four seasons with the Washington Senators (1956-59) and Boston Red Sox (1959). After appearing in 13 games with the Red Sox, continued to play in the minor leagues until 1965.
He died on December 12, 2014, at the age of 86.
