Happy 85th birthday to former Eastern League prospect Mel Nelson!
Nelson
pitched for the 1958 York White Roses (8-5, 4.08 ERA). He went on to
play in the majors during six seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals
(1960, '68-'69), Los Angeles Angels (1963), and Minnesota Twins (1965
and '67).
