March 17, 1948: Former Wilkes-Barre Barons (1947) prospect Johnny Blatnik is making a strong bid to make the Philadelphia Phillies roster.

Blatnik played with the Philadelphia Phillies during the 1948, '49 and '50 seasons and played for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1950.
